Capital advance for production, technological transfer…

Mr Dang Tuong Khanh, Director of Trong Duc Cacao Products Limited Company, shared that the cacao area in Thong Nhat, Dinh Quan and Tan Phu (Dong Nai); Da Hoai, Da Te and Cat Tien (Lam Dong); Duc Linh and Tanh Linh (Binh Thuan) is now up to over 1,000 ha signed monopoly sales by the company for more than 180 households. Although many households have not linked yet, the company still collects and purchases to avoid damages for the people. It is expected until 2018, the area would reach about 5,0000 ha (the output would reach 6,000 tons).

“To develop the material area, upon its new incorporation (2006), the company has developed the seedling, sold farmers with cheap price. At the same time, established clubs, co-operatives for scientific and technical transfer. Now, the company’s engineers and freelances continue to organize many technical training courses for farmers. In addition, we also call upon fertilizer, plant protective medicine companies to support, invest in, provide products to farmers for caultivation and then pay gradually”, said Mr Khanh.

Meanwhile, Bien Hoa – Tri An Sugar-Cane Factory (Tri An Commune, Vinh Cuu District, Dong Nai) is also constructing concentrated sugar-cane material area applying mechanization, modern machinery to enhance productivity, efficiency. Mr. Le Dinh Nghiem, Director of Bien Hoa – Tri An Sugar-Cane Factory, shared: “Each year the factory soends about 50 billion dong for capital advance to farmers’ production. We are encouraging the people to enlarge sugar-cane growing area”.

Also, according to Mr Nghiem, the factory are preparing to sign a commitment of crop transfer to sugar-cane cultivation, ensuring minimum income of 13 million dong/ha for farmers. Besides, the factory has further policies such as when farmers sign in the contract of selling sugar-cane to the factory in 4 continuous crops, they will be supported 2-4 million dong/ha through seedling, fertilizer; invested in mechanization, sugar-cane growing and caring techniques to the people; after harvesting sugar-cane and selling them to the factory, farmers pay loans.

The framer Mr Vo Thanh Minh (58 years-old, Tri An Commune) shared:” My family has 4.5 ha of two-crop rice area, in many last years, we have tried our utmost but enough eating only. By growing sugar-cane, the factory has supported the transfer with 13 million dong/ha, invested land rent, crop and machinery expense for farm work. Sugar-cane growing and care is much simpler than rice’s one, sugar-cane income is many times higher than rice’s one so I am very secure”. It is considered as a pooling to cooperate with the company

According to Mr Dang Tuong Khanh, now the company is collecting and purchasing cacao from the people 1,000 dong/kg higher than the market price. “Previously, when cacao was exported in raw manner, the company only purchased 2,000 dong/kg for fresh cacao. In 2013, it studied and produced some products, the value increased so the follow price was also increased and the company signed the purchase contract up to 4,000 dong/kg. We have just signed a cooperative with a Japanese partner and being performed pilot purchase of 6,000 dong /fresh cacao kg from households within a year” said Mr Khanh.

In 6,000 dong, the company pays 5,500 dong to farmers, keeps 500 dong until the end of the year or 6 months for an installment. This sum will be invested in machinery, production line by the company in order to enhance cacao value. “This thing may mean that farmers are pooling with the company for trading. When the company has its investment capital, increased product quality, product payment for farmers also rises, thus, creating sustainable link”, analyzed Mr Khanh.
