Dong Nai builds sample sugarcane field of over 2,100 ha

Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company says that it has built sugarcane farming field project of 2,118 ha area in Vinh Cuu District (Dong Nai). The project will attract about 300 local farmers to join in the linking chain. The project’s target is to transfer low-efficiency annual plant area to concentrated sugarcane cultivation, applied mechanization for productivity increase.

Accordingly, the project is divided into 3 stages, namely: in 2014-2015, continue to maintain 618 ha area being farmed and pilot sample field at 2 communes Tri An and Tan An in Vinh Cuu District with total 84 ha area; in 2015-2016, enlarge sugarcane area up to 1,118 ha and until 2020, develop up to 2,118 ha. Total investment capital to farmers in these 3 stages is more than 174 billion dong.

According to Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company, for farmer households in the above-mentioned communes, when transferring inefficient plants to sugarcane cultivation, the project will support over 16 million dong/ha, in which the company will provide seed, fertilizer and pesticide and monopoly sales to products for farmers

Mr Vo Van Chanh, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, assesses that this is 3-house linking model: Farmer - Government – Enterprise. Therefore, sucessfulll construction of this pilot model will attract crowded farmers to join. Mr Vo Van Chanh asks Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company to continue to complete the project in accordance with the law to be enjoyed the State preferred policies in the criterion of large sample field construction. Further, the locality and relevant departments and authorities need actively support so that the project acquires its efficiency
